Until then....

When I first got the assignment for this blog I was apprehensive about this project because I had never managed a blog or any collection of my work. When I first started blogging I began to post some finished work that I had done from the previous quarter and as I continued I realized that I don’t need to post just finished work or even my work. I began to post pictures that I found on other blogs, from other photographers, and my own pictures to expand on my work and give me inspiration and ideas. To see my work in a collection with other photographs and art allowed me to see the work that I admire with my own work, I realized this was helpful in figuring out where my work is going and where I want it to go.

Posting the work online was a good way to always have your work critiqued, it would be nice when somebody would comment on the photo saying what they liked or what they would want to see from you. I didn’t want to treat the blog as something that I just post finished photographs too, I wanted it to be a continual cycle of how my work was developing, and especially with projects to see where I was going with my work or to help me start off on the project. I definitely plan on continuing the blog because I enjoyed this experience and it became a place to express myself and share my work. I look forward to uploading more stuff real soon.

Until then…
Harry

  1. Harry,
I really like what you have to say about the blog. Well done too. I'm glad its a useful tool for you to work out your ideas visually. It certainly takes discipline but your blog is an illustration of success. I think I just need to be better about encouraging more commenting on images because that is a really great mechanism for feedback. I was guilty of that as well. Its just hard when you have 35 students, but no excuse. It was my assignment afterall!

    good luck next quarter!
